Sharps Rifle Company - Rifles

Sharps Rifles began as a series of large bore, single-shot rifles valued for their exceedingly long range and great accuracy. They eventually expanded to include a variety of calibers and they were used internationally by various military units.

The military-issue Sharps Rifle was used in the Civil War (and in the years following). This rifle had an (optional) unique primer feed which allowed multiple primers to automatically load with each trigger pull which made firing from horseback much easier than firearms requiring the percussion cap to be reloaded after each firing.

The sporting Sharps Rifles made for commercial buffalo hunters and frontiersmen included some of the most powerful black powder cartridges ever made and included special versions for 1000-yard target shooting.
